Davy Grosemans

Davy Grosemans (1976, Belgium) is a product designer. He graduated from the MAD-Faculty of Genk, Belgium in 1999. In 2001 he set up his design studio das ding, based in Brussels. The main objective for das ding is to develop key objects and experiments into fully functional and commercial industrial products, in cooperation with manufacturers. This has already led to award-winning products such as the Breezer, Hole in One and FrouFrou for Sywawa and the Son of Eddy and Chubby collection for Dark.

Davy Grosemans is fascinated by objects that have been around for a long time and don’t look designed at all. Often, his designs are inspired by archetypes. By transforming the characteristics of these archetypes, he tries to give his designs an almost iconic quality that make them instantly recognizable and a bit alienating at the same time.
