Egon Eiermann

Egon Eiermann (1904 – 1970) was one of Germany's most significant post-war architects. Born in Neuendorf, he studied in Berlin and developed a particular interest in steel-frame construction techniques.

A committed modernist, his buildings include the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in Berlin, the Bundestag in Bonn, the German Embassy in Washington and the Olivetti towers in Frankfurt.

He is also known for his furniture designs which are characterised by a rigourous and elegant functionalism.
