British-born designer Faye Toogood works across a range of disciplines including set design, fashion, interior design and product design.
She studied history of art at Bristol University and worked as a stylist after graduating, becoming decoration editor at influential magazine World of Interiors.
Informed by her background in theory of art, Toogood's designs are sculptural and expressive, often celebrating and embracing irregularity and the unexpected. A preoccupation with materiality and experimentation characterises her pieces, which are handmade by small-scale fabricators and traditional artisans.
Of her work, Toogood says: "I didn't study design, so I have no rules to adhere to - or indeed break."
