Nicholai Wiig Hansen

Danish designer Nicholai Wiig Hansen founded his own design studio at the age of 26 and has worked for a range of major brands including Ikea and Normann Copenhagen.

His works are distinguished by an elemental simplicity of form, with extraneous detailing retained only if it serves a specific purpose.

In 2017 Wiig Hansen produced a range of ceramic tableware inspired by the vessels appearing in the paintings of Danish modernist artist Vilhelm Lundstrøm, launched to coincide with a retrospective dedicated to the artist at theMuseum of Modern Art in Aalborg.

"Lundstrøm's masterly handling of negative space, form and colour was the starting point for the collection," explains Nicholai Wiig Hansen.
