Maruni Wood Industry has launched two new chairs as part of the Maruni Collection 2018 at the Salone del Mobile, Milan.
twentytwentyone are very pleased to soon be displaying the Roundish Armchair designed by Naoto Fukasawa and the Fugu Chair by Jasper Morrison at our River Street showroom.
The Roundish armchair designed by Naoto Fukusawa (left) is made from a single piece of laminated plywood, twisted and bent in three dimensions to create the backrest, arms and seat. The unified shape gently embraces the person sitting.
The Fugu chair designed by Jasper Morrison (left) is made of solid wood and utilises Maruni’s renowned cutting technology to create the finely curved surfaces. An armchair version is also available.
In addition to the new collection, to commemorate Maruni’s 90th anniversary, a special Hiroshima chair and T&O chair (below) will be released in a limited edition of 90 worldwide.
Established in 1928, Maruni set about achieving industrial mass-production while retaining the quality of the craftsmanship so prevalent in their heritage. This attention to detail can be seen in their designs, striving to create robust pieces of furniture that will still feel fresh and vital in the future.
