The original version of the Oxford chair was designed for the professors at St Catherine’s College in Oxford in 1965.
Fritz Hansen re-designed the Oxford chair in 2016, creating a new version called the Oxford Premium. The Oxford Premium has a 3-layer foam upholstery that, combined with a wider seat, makes it particularly comfortable, and horizontal stitching lines that highlight the design.
The Oxford Premium chair has a seat shell made of moulded sliced veneer, fully upholstered in 3 layers with horizontal stitching. It is available with a low or medium high back, both with armrests. The fully upholstered shell is available in a wide range of fabric and leather types.
The base is made of satin polished aluminium and is available in a fixed height (with toes), or adjustable height (with 5 castors). Chairs with fixed seat height have a spring function. Chairs with adjustable height have a tilt mechanism.
