Eero Saarinen Tulip table, 1953
Eero Saarinen created his award winning design in 1953 after lengthy research into finding a means to engineer the unity of pedestal and top.
The desire to address the ‘slum of legs’ beneath tables was fulfilled with the elegant Tulip series of tables and chairs.
The example offered is a rare Knoll production in Travertine marble. The highly figured stone is a form of limestone created in geothermal springs. Knoll very briefly produced the Tulip table in Travertine but scarcity of supply meant it was withdrawn almost immediately.
Dimensions:
107dia x 72cmh
