Mourne Textured Herringbone blanket, 2021

Mourne Textured Herringbone blanket by Gerd Hay-Edie for Mourne Textiles.

Mourne Textiles produces woven fabrics of exceptional design and quality using the last remaining production handloom weaving workshop in Northern Ireland. The company was originally founded by designer Gerd Hay-Edie whose distinctive textiles were used by, amongst others, Robin Day, Gordon Russell, Conran and Liberty.

First featured as a clothing fabric in the early 1960s for Dublin based fashion designer Sheila Mullally, the Textured Herringbone design has been reworked for modern interior use.

The blanket features unique variation in texture made possible by the differing thicknesses of yarn, combined with occasional loops, creating a beautiful depth and richness to the fabric.

Made using a 'wild' spun yarn from Donegal, producing a richly textured effect, with each piece being unique.

Influenced by the woody Autumnal tones of the Mourne Mountains, the blanket is available in Buckthorn colour with natural white soft fringe.
