twentytwentyone acted as host and sole retail partner for the launch of a digitally produced collection of Lucienne Day's textile designs.
Glasgow School of Art’s in-house digital printing facility collaborated with Lucienne Day to select and define a range of her historical designs to be produced in a range of authentic colourways. The new production allowed for immediate printing to-order without the need to maintain large stock volumes of roller printed lengths.
Born in 1917, Day studied at Croydon School of Art and the Royal College of Art. In 1948 Lucienne set up a design practice with her furniture designer husband Robin and together they were feted as design pioneers.
Lucienne Day’s career was launched with her award-winning design, Calyx, for the Festival of Britain in 1951.
For 25 years she worked producing celebrated textile designs for the then progressive retailer Heals, while also designing surface patterns for Rosenthal, wallpapers for Rasch and carpets for Tomkinsons.
Throughout her career, she has enjoyed both public and critical acclaim. Lucienne Day’s influence and impact on designers was - and remains - widely acknowledged.
