Young belgian designer Marina Bautier creates multifunctional furniture and objects without hampering the design. Giving priority to simple structures and carefully considering appearance and implementation, Marina Bautier shies away from technological rhetoric. Instead she emphasises the beauty and the modernity of familiar materials, especially of wood. This approach can be seen in the simple yet stylish Cruiser lounge chair for Swedese.
Born in Brussels in 1980, the designer graduated from Buckinghamshire Chilterns University College and set up her design practice in 2002. She has since gone on to refine her own design language, and has produced work for manufacturers including Idée, De La Espada, Ligne Roset, Case and Swedese.
