Artemide

Founded in the 1960s, Artemide is one of the most known lighting brands in the world. Known for its 'The Human Light' philosophy, promoted by Carlotta de Bevilacqua, Artemide has changed the way to conceive and develop its products. The guiding idea was to start from people’s needs in terms of light, and understanding first and foremost and how to respond to individual needs in the different spaces and stages of life. Artemide is nowadays synonymous with design, innovation and 'Made in Italy'. Artemide has contributed to the history of the international design with products like Eclisse, 1967 by Vico Magistretti, Tolomeo, 1989 by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina, and Pipe, 2004 by Herzog & De Meuron, all showed at the Compasso D'oro Awards. In 1994 Artemide received the prestigious 'Compaso D'oro' career award and the European Design Prize In 1997.

Artemide lamps are considered on an international level as design icons; they are exhibited in many museums of modern art and design collections, for example MoMA, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Victoria and Albert Museum, National Museum of Science and Technology in Milan, National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome and, The Pompidou Museum in France. Artemide has always collaborated with the world renowned international designers and actively promotes workshops with design schools, such as the Royal College of Art, London, in order to promote design and consider the next generation of designers.
