Gemla

Gemla is Sweden's oldest furniture factory, situated in the forest of Småland, employing skilled craftsmen using traditional techniques to create bentwood furniture from ash and beech. The techniques were historically used by boat and fence builders but were refined in the mid-1800's by designer Michael Thonet to craft the iconic bentwood Boppard layer wood chair.

Gemla has continued to push the boundaries of traditional bentwood furniture, collaborated with designers and architects, to craft distinctive pieces. As a company they strive for sustainability, upholding a strength and quality of materials in all their furniture.
