Envy Suppressor by Aman Khanna.
Aman Khanna's Envy Suppressor is a unique ceramic sculpture that form part of his Claymen series: a continuing exploration of the nature of identity, selfhood and what it means to be human in the world.
Each Envy Suppressor is hand sculpted from clay. Khanna creates unique expression for each, visually demonstrating the supression of "one's inner and outer evil", using a simple series of universal features to create a profound sense of character which is immediately appealing.
The use of unadorned clay bears particular significance for the artist. Khanna notes that "clay is a simple, everyday raw material used by everyone. Sun dried, half-baked in an open fire - clay is omnipresent and yet individual in the way one uses it."
As Khanna observes, "Let the Claymen look at you, and use them to look at yourself."
