The 2209 two- and three-seat sofas and 2207 armchair are part of a fully upholstered suite designed by Børge Mogensen in 1963. The simple, yet characteristic, design is a continuation of the master, Kaare Klint’s, sofas from the 1920s, which inspired details such as the curve in the armrest and the arch of the back.
Børge Mogensen graduated from the School of Architecture with a clear mission. He wanted to create quality furniture that everyone could afford. Yet 20 years later, he designed the sofas and chairs that now furnish cabinet ministers offices and Danish embassies around the world.
The first of the iconic sofas were released in 1962, followed by many different variations, evolving into institutions of Danish design.
This design is available in the selected fabric options: Ruskin, Hallingdal, Harald, Sunniva, Divina, Divina Melange, Sinequanon, Twill weave, Vidar, Fuse, Noise, Pulsar, Pilot, Reflex, and Sonar. The sofa is available with upholstery in Fredericia Leather Group 1, Leather Group 2, or Leather Group 3.
