The Søborg chair was designed by Børge Mogensen in 1950 as a functional and elegant plywood shell chair that could be efficiently produced using contemporary machining technology.
In 1952 Mogensen adapted his design to include a steel frame option, bringing his characteristic finesse and craft to a material he did not commonly employ.
Available with a steel frame in black or chrome, and seat and back in lacquered oak, oiled oak, black lacquered oak, or lacquered walnut. Also available with wooden frame here.
The Soborg chair is also available with an upholstered seat, or upholstered seat and back. The following range fabrics and leathers selected by Fredericia are available for upholstery:
