In 1958, Borge Mogensen and his family travelled to Spain. In Andalucia he fell in love with a traditional chair, commonly found within ancient Islamic cultures, with a wide seat and broad armrests. Once back in Denmark, he used this inspiration to created the iconic Spanish Chair.
Mogensen modernised the design, removing the elaborate carvings while applying his customary geometrical precision, achieving a robust chair with exceptional longevity and enduring character.
The Spanish Dining Chair belongs to Mogensen's 1958 collection, composed of the Hunting Chair and Spanish Chair, featuring the same signature solid wood frame, saddle leather and buckle detailing. Available in a range treated oaks including oiled, soaped and black lacquered with a selection of high-quality vegetable tanned leathers, allowing the chair to be tailored to suit any interior.
