The Red Chair Large by Kaare Klint for Carl Hansen

Between 1927 and 1933, Kaare Klint designed a series of chairs named ‘The Red Chairs’.

Klint designed the Large edition of the chair first; it was designed especially for the lecture hall at the new Danish Museum of Art and Design. In designing the Red Chair Series Klint studied English chair designs, including the Chippendale, combining elements to create a new construction with a modern expression and great comfort.

Klint continued to work on the series adding two narrower versions - The Red Chair Small (1928) and The Red Chair Medium (1933). The Red Chairs are available in three different sizes so that they will comfortably fit around various dining tables.

The Red Chair Large has a solid wood frame available in oak (soaped, clear lacquered, oiled, white oiled or black lacquered) or walnut (clear lacquered or oiled). in a soaped, oiled or white oiled finish. Seat and back in flame retardant cold foam CMHR. Upholstered in leathers of the collection. Please see pdf’s in ‘Product downloads' for the different wood finishes and how to care for them, as well as the leathers available. All material samples are also available to view at our shop or showroom.
