The Leach Pottery is based in St Ives, Cornwall and is amongst the most revered studio potteries around the world. Established in 1920 by Bernard Leach and Shoji Hamada, the iconic Standard Ware range is still produced on site today by a team of international potters, apprentices and volunteers.
Stoneware clay from Doble's claypit in St Agnes is used to create the range, much the same clay that would have been used in the original production.
The small pourer is reduction fired in a cream-white dolomite glaze. The glaze takes its name from the high percentage of the dolomite mineral used in the mix, the iron in the clay also comes through, lending a gentle blue hue to the finish.
Due to the unpredictable nature of the firing process, there can be small variations in the colour and size, making each piece unique.
