Jens Risom

Jens Risom designed Knoll's first chair in 1941. The iconic modern Danish designer attended the University of Copenhagen and the Kunståndvaerkerskolen. Risom started his career in the architectural office of Ernst Kuhn, creating furniture and interior schemes for his buildings.

He moved to New York in, continuing to work for other designers; for figures such as Georg Jensen and Dan Cooper. It was whilst working in the city he was approached by Knoll to design a range of chairs.
