Fun 1DM Pendant Lamp by Verner Panton for Verpan.
Designed in 1964 by Verner Panton, the Fun collection is often regarded as one of his most recognisable and celebrated designs.
Determined to create a light that would cast a diffused light while making a statement in a colourful room, Panton's original initial design utilised metal discs. Hoping to achieve a lighter aesthetic, Panton swapped these out for mother-of-pearl discs after coming across some seashells on a beach in Malaysia.
The Fun 1DM features a three-ring tiered design, which suspends the discs connected with small metal rings.
The result is a light that casts a delicate pattern of reflected light whilst creating a gentle crystalline sound when a soft draught stirs the hanging discs.
