Born in 1913, Jacues Biny was a prolific designer whose work embodied the period of European modernism he lived through. With over 400 designs across a 30 year career, he tirelessly worked to develop new and innovative ways to light people's homes and workplaces.
His designs are characterised by attention to detail, functionality, and a lack of the superfluous. Indeed, his alignment with the minimalist trend that came to fruition in 1960s America led to sustained interest in his work from American collectors and Europeans alike.
Re-released by DCW Editions for the modern day, the Biny range sums up the work of this forward-thinking designer: unique, practical, and wholly stylish.
