Nelson Saucer Bubble Pendant by George Nelson for Herman Miller, distributed by Hay.

The iconic mid-century Bubble light was designed by George Nelson in 1947 and first put into production in 1952. The Saucer pendant delicately floats overhead, providing a soft, diffused light.

Inspired by a set of silk-covered Swedish pendant lamps that he felt were too expensive, Nelson created his own modest orb lighting series. Rather than silk, he used a self-webbing plastic developed by the military to form the translucent shell over a lightweight, rounded-steel frame.

The renowned Bubble pendant forms part of the permanent collection at the Museum of Modern Art, New York.

Available in four sizes.

The Saucer Bubble pendant is made of an off-white webbing polymer with a ceiling plate in brushed nickel. Each lamp is provided with a white 183cm PVC isolation cable. Please note hard wiring is required.

Bulb (not included): 60W/120V bulb (small), 150W/120V bulb (other sizes).

The Bubble Pendant collection comprises a series of organic shapes and sizes. See 'More products in this range' below.
