Las Sillas game by Pico Pao.
Pico Pau is a workshop with a long history of craftsmanship that began in 1979, in Spain. Currently the workshop is focussed on designing and perfecting new and traditional games. The games have no rules and can be regarded more as artistic objects or sculptures.
Pico Pau have chosen a schematic and unadorned, almost skeletal design for this game of chairs. The 15 chairs can be piled up, stacked, left scattered on the floor or grouped into random shapes of difficult equilibrium.
This game has the most basic rules, those of a child trying to challenge himself by stacking objects using the freest of artistic expression. In playing with the chairs we let ourselves be carried away by the need to experiment. The aim is to play and see just how the construction we are making can surprise us by its beauty, its audacious balance, the strangeness of its forms, etc.
