Tricorne tray

Tricorne tray by Robin Day for twentytwentyone.

The tray echoes the 18th Century hat, originally conceived to shed water away from the wearer’s face. The Tricorne tray displays Robin Day’s ability to create functional designs with a distinctive personality. The tray is simple, yet modern; minimal, with a slight quirk. It is distinctively a timeless classic.

Combining an acute understanding of materials and manufacturing processes with progressive design skills, he created landmarks in the history of furniture design. His polypropylene seating is believed to be the world’s best-selling chair.

Robin Day’s achievements are not restricted to furniture; his exhibition, industrial, graphic and interior designs demonstrated a modernist sensibility expressed with a distinctive flair. Robin and his wife, the textile designer Lucienne Day, are revered for the essential part they played in bringing contemporary design to Britain after the War.

Robin Day OBE RDI SFRCA FCSD HonRIBA, 1915 - 2010

The Tricorne tray is part of the Robin Day Collection®  made by twentytwentyone under licence from the Robin and Lucienne Day Foundation.
