The French designer Bernard-Albin Gras, is an important name in modern lighting design. His functionalist collection of lights called the GRAS lamps are a staple of modern interiors, used in homes by architects like Le Corbusier.
The collection was created in 1921, for use in offices and industrial environments but quickly became popular for use in residential interiors, because of its ergonomic, durable and functional design. Their popularity evident as both Sonia Delaunay and Georges Braque had the table lights in their studios. Originally they were made by the Ravel company, but they are now produced by DCW Editions.
