Reigate Rocking Chair by William Plunkett.

The Reigate Rocking Chair won a Council of Industrial Design Award in 1968 and is held in the permanent collection at the V&A Museum.

This elegantly functional chair demonstrates the designer’s ability to reduce the structure to a minimum while performing a purpose.

The steel bar rockers and aluminium seat frame are as narrow as possible, while the slim seat cushions employ Pirelli webbing to provide comfort and elasticity.

The Rocking Chair’s centre of gravity has been carefully calibrated to ensure the chair remains balanced while clearly expressing its dynamic potential.

The frame is hand welded and marries precise engineering with a high level of craftsmanship. A quiet, sophisticated modernism resonates through the mix of anthracite powdercoated frame and anodised aluminium elements.
