Eva Lounge Chair
Mi 472 Eva Lounge Chair by Bruno Mathsson for Bruno Mathsson International.
Bruno Mathsson conducted a study on the "mechanics of sitting" in the early 1930s by sitting in a snowdrift and observing his body's imprint in the snow. Based on this work, Mathsson designed a series of chairs, including the work-rest, which he showcased in 1936 at the Röhsska Arts and Crafts Museum. The exhibition was well-received and established Mathssons position as a prominent designer in Sweden.
Over time, Mathsson continued to refine the work chair. He added armrests and, in 1941, arrived at its final form, which he named Eva.
