Penguin Donkey Mark 2
Isokon Penguin Donkey Mark 2 by Ernest Race for Isokon Plus.
The Penguin Donkey Mark 2 was designed in 1963 when Ernest Race was asked by Jack Pritchard to reconfigure Egon Riss' original design to include a flat top, allowing the piece to be used as a side table.
Promotional literature for the new Penguin Donkey describes the design as an "obliging creature" that "holds up to 90 paperbacks in two panniers … and provides a convenient chairside table for your tray of hors d’oeuvres, coffee cups, glass, ashtray, knitting or anything else you want to keep beside you.”
