Verner Panton designed the System 1-2-3 chair collection in 1973 as part of a project to create a series of versatile seats primarily focused on providing excellent seating comfort.
The dining chair has a unique S-shape, with the seat naturally flowing into the base. Despite its simple shape, the chair has a sculptural presence and can be used alone or as a set around a dining table.
When commenting on the series, a critic at the time said, "It will be a milestone in future furniture design. We have never seen a chair designed and built like this series before."
The deluxe version of the chair features a quilted seat, providing the seat with a luxurious and refined elegance.
